MRC5 and AT1OS cells

Human Diploid cells: MRC5 are derived from normal lung tissue of a 14-week-old male fetus (Caucasian) by J. P. Jacobs in September 1966 (Nature 227: 168-170, 1970).

AT1OS: "AT", "1" and "OS" represent "ataxia telangiectasia", "No. 1" and "Osaka", respectively. "OS" is sometimes mistyped as "0(zero)S".  AT1OS cells are derived from a 10-year old Japanese boy with progressive cerebellar ataxia and repeated upper respiratory infection.
